Summer has officially kicked off for us! P is out of school for the summer, nursing school is over for me as I have finally graduated, and we now have tons of time all day to do with as we please. This is FANTASTIC but it also means I have to find ways to keep the little man entertained all summer. This becomes especially challenging when the weather forces you indoors all day or for several days. I am constantly looking for fun and affordable family entertainment that we can both enjoy. What if I told you you could get $500 dollars worth of summer entertainment for FREE???
Recently I came across the Kids Bowl Free program. I was not familiar with this at first but after some reading it looks like an amazing FREE entertainment option for your kids this summer. This programs was started several years ago and is nationwide! Check out the video below. Kids Bowl Free allows kids to bowl up to 2 games for free every day of the summer at participating bowling alleys. This offer is for kids 15 years and younger only. The only cost not included is the shoe rental fee. This is usually a few nominal fee- a few bucks at our local alley. If you have bowling shoes you are welcome to bring your own as well and then there would not be a cost. If you plan to go a lot this summer I would consider finding a pair online for cheap, possibly even eBay or Amazon. I found the pair below on Amazon for $20.29 here.
Additionally there is the option to add a family pass for the parents to be able to bowl inexpensively as well if you want to play along side the kids. This would be great if you have a babysitter this summer that needs helps figuring out what to do with the kids all day too.
You can browse participating locations by state here.
Sign up form for Strikezone in Brunswick is here. Once you select the state and your bowling alley choice it will populate their form.

We recently had my 5 year old’s birthday party at The Golden Isles Strikezone , which is our local bowling alley here in Brunswick, and is also participating in this program! Everyone had a great time and remarked it was one of the nicest bowling alleys they had been to. If you are local to Brunswick I definitely recommend checking out the bowling alley and especially this program.
I think any activity to get the kids from behind a screen, up and moving (i.e. sneaky exercise), and engaged is a wonderful idea. Free is just icing on the cake! Who knows, they could become the next bowling child prodigy and at a minimum they will pick up a fun new hobby that doesn’t involve video games. #momwin. Use the savings from free bowling to splurge on an ice cream date afterwards 🙂 Make sure to follow the Mommie Tourist FB page and Instagram as well so you do not miss any deals because I hope to send lots of great free/affordable options your way!
