Summer is getting SO close here on the coast of South Georgia. We only have about a month until summer vacation and I think everyone at my house is really looking forward to a break. This mom definitely is !! I don’t know about ya’ll but now that it is getting warmer every weekend we get the serious itch to hit the beach. Unfortunately every week we can’t take off for a week at the beach – sad I know- so sometimes we have to settle for a weekend or a long weekend to get our travel fix in.
And that my friends is exactly how we came to discover the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach, Fl recently. After an especially grueling week we were all really hankering for some beach time, some seafood, and some sunshine. We knew we did not want to drive super far from South Georgia and we did not want to spend a fortune so after a TON of research we decided to give the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach a try. While this was our first trip to Hard Rock Hotel, we are definitely not newbies to the charms of Daytona. If you want to read about some of our previous trips you can check out this post. The Hard Rock Hotel definitely checked all of the “must haves” for us including beach front, several places to eat on site, awesome pools, and a fantastic location.
Hard Rock Vibe
This hotel is bursting with a young, fresh vibe that will re-energize even the most tired mama. Somedays the struggle to try to feel young, hip, and cool with small children is very real. Hard Rock Hotel to nailed it. This Hard Rock Hotel manages to appeal to everyone from the young, single 20 somethings, to families with small children, to the older ( and wiser) customers. It truly is a marketing marvel that the hotel is perfect for ALL ages.
One of my favorite parts of this hotel was all of the awesome, live music both inside and outside this hotel. The hubby and little guy loved this part too. Everywhere we went there was uh-mazing music and very talented musicians which really ensured this hotel lived up to it’s namesake. There is a sleek modern motif that is carried throughout this entire hotel that screams rock and roll and we loved it. There was SO much attention to detail that it was unbelievable. The Hard Rock interior design team has mad skills ya’ll.
We had the best time exploring the hotel and looking at all the memorabilia which is synonymous with the Hard Rock brand. If you love music you will really enjoy wandering the hotel and enjoying all of the “art” here. From Jimi Hendrix, to the Beach Boys ( personal fav), to the Allman Brothers there is something for everyone to enjoy here.
If you want to buy some great memorabilia of your own then make sure to hit the Hard Rock Hotel gift shop. We snagged some cool flip flops, goggles for the pool, and some other Hard Rock memorabilia. They have a ton of rock star gear in here for everyone in your group including swimsuits, clothes, hats, jewelry, and any and everything you might need for a great trip.
The Beach & Pool
This hotel is directly on famous Daytona Beach. Need I say more?!?! Daytona Beach is one of our family’s favorite beaches on the Atlantic side of things. Now, it is not a secret that I have a serious obsession with the Gulf of Mexico. But when I want to keep things simple and close to home I often gravitate to Daytona. As if the world famous beach is not enough…Hard Rock Hotel seriously killed it with their pool. We were VERY impressed to say the least. There is a large main pool that has a live DJ to keep the rock and roll vibe going. There are plenty of servers to bring you that favorite snack, beverage, or an entire meal poolside while you get soak up some good food, music, and sun. There are awesome cabanas you can snag for a fee but reserve these early because they are popular. They are also perfect for a mid afternoon nap and especially good for littles.
And that is just the main pool. The kiddie area has a small water park I kid you not. There are tons of water features and a small pool for the smallest rock and roll fans. All of the kids there were having the best time. The kiddie area is close enough to the main pool to keep an eye on things but far enough away that they are out of the hustle and bustle of the main pool area. There are more cabanas in the kiddie area for rent and plenty of places to have lunch pool side thanks to awesome pool staff who make sure you have all the food and beverages your crew needs. In between the main pool and kiddie area there is a awesome hot tub too as well as a full service bar.
The Hard Rock Hotel gets extra cool points from this mom for creating an outdoor space to keep every member of your family happy. There is lots of music, delicious food, and plenty of water to keep the youngest kid all the way to the oldest member of your group happy as a clam.
One of the reasons I chose this hotel is because we did not have to leave the hotel in order to find great food! This hotel has SEVERAL great food options without ever having to step foot off the property. Sessions, which is the main dining option in the hotel, is P H E N O M E N A L. I seriously LOVED Sessions.
Sometimes in-house dining can be hit or miss but the Hard rock definitely got it right! From the cocktails, to appetizer, to kids menu, to main courses, and then a piece of strawberry heaven it was all a 10….seriously. A 10! The service was fantastic and the view was crazy good. Sessions has a beautiful inside and outside bar as well as al fresco dining options with a breathtaking view of Daytona Beach and the pool. I could not have been more pleased with this meal.
If you are feeling a little more casual or just want to grab something on the way to the beach then Constant Grind is a great option. They were serving up delicious breakfast sandwiches, pastries, tons of coffee, fruit, and plenty of grab and go lunch options. We grabbed breakfast here one morning and it was SO yummy.
If both of those are not enough then there is always room service. What momma on vacation ever turned her nose up at room service?? Um, not this momma!! I am ALL about the room service at the end of a long day when you are sun burned and don’t feel like getting dolled up. Room service for the win ladies.
And if you feel like venturing outside the hotel then you happen to be smack dab in the middle of some of my favorite restaurants. I love the foodie scene in Daytona. I might love it as much as the beach ya’ll seriously. I am a sucker for some good food and I am unashamed. Lucky for me and you there is So. Many. Good. Places. at Daytona Beach. I will post a whole separate post soon my “must do” list.
Since we waited until the last minute aka Thursday night before we left, there were not a ton of room options available to chose from. Because we had waited until the last minute the only option we really had was a city view room. I have to be honest, I was a little bummed at first. BUT- this room was SUPER affordable (<$200) especially compared to ocean front rooms we typically select (>$400). I knew I had to go into it with an open mind. The room far surpassed my expectations. It was also extremely clean which is extra important to me. I loved the cool, eclectic rock star vibe that spilled over from the hotel lobby and other areas into the room. From the tile work in the bathroom to the embroidered pillow cases and fixtures every part of this room screams rockstar! These rooms are spacious, very comfortable, and perfect for a family beach getaway. I was initially very hesitant about the “city view” while staying at the beach but the city view was actually awesome. We watched some beautiful sunsets over city of Daytona and we loved being able to look down over the main drag in Daytona and watch all the activity. Saving some money on the room was definitely an added and welcomed bonus. Win Win. Hallelujuah!
The rooms at the Hard Rock definitely surpassed my expectations. I sincerely am looking forward to a return trip very, very soon to check out the ocean front rooms too. I know if we were as pleased with the city view as we were, then the ocean side will be just as great.
Make sure when you go to the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona you drop me a line on one of MT’s social media channels to let me know how much you loved it. I can’t wait to hear all about your trip too!
Wishing you love & travel,
